Voices: Giving a Voice to Those Who Have Never Had One
Voices is an innovative project that uses artificial intelligence to collect, preserve, and tell the stories of people who often go unheard. Refugees, marginalized individuals, witnesses of events forgotten by history: Voices gives them a voice, transforming their accounts into a living, interactive digital archive.
Through an advanced AI interview system, Voices listens, collects, and processes people's experiences, creating digital clones capable of narrating fragments of lives that would otherwise be lost.
Currently, the project is being tested with migrants from the Balkan route in collaboration with ICS (Italian Consortium of Solidarity - Refugee Office). This allows us to refine and improve the AI interview system, ensuring an empathetic and accurate experience.
Why Voices?
Every story has value. Every voice deserves to be heard.
We live in an era where many narratives are ignored or silenced. Voices aims to counter this trend by using technology to bridge individual experiences and collective memory.
The collected stories can be used to:
- Raise public awareness on relevant social issues.
- Preserve historical memory through direct testimonies.
- Provide an educational tool for schools and institutions.
- Offer comfort and recognition to those who have lived through difficult experiences.
How Does It Work?
1. AI Interviews Artificial intelligence asks structured and personalized questions, adapting to user responses to create an empathetic and engaging interview.
2. Data Archiving The responses are securely stored, organizing the stories into a database that allows exploration based on themes, emotions, and context.
3. Digital Clone Generation Using the collected data, Voices creates a "digital clone" of the interviewed person: an AI entity that retains the tone, language, and memories of the narrator, delivering their story through dynamic interactions.
Examples of Stories
"My Escape Across the Mediterranean": the account of a young migrant who crossed the sea in search of hope.
"Life on the Margins of Society": stories of homeless people and their relationship with the city.
"Forgotten War Memories": testimonies from those who lived through conflicts ignored by history books.
"Fragments of the Self": LGBTQ+ stories of identity, struggle, and self-discovery-voices of those who have redefined themselves despite rejection, doubt, and fear.
